Terms of re-use

Two separate things are published here, and they carry different terms: the compilation, which is the work of assembling, describing and cross-checking the record, and the figures themselves, which were recorded by other bodies and are not ours to licence.

The compilation

The compilation — the selection and arrangement of the record, the written survey, the derived JSON under /data/ and the charts drawn from it — may be copied, quoted, redistributed and built upon, for any purpose including a commercial one, with attribution to The Documented Record (https://palestinerecord.github.io/). No permission needs to be sought and none will be refused.

The underlying figures

Every record names the body that recorded it, and that body's own terms govern the figure itself. Where a figure is disputed, the dispute is published alongside it rather than resolved silently. The two external datasets the site is built on are:

• Tech For Palestine open datasets — daily and cumulative casualty series compiled from Gaza Ministry of Health, OCHA and UN reporting. Released into the public domain under the Unlicense.
• OCHA State of Palestine subnational administrative boundaries — the Common Operational Dataset used to draw governorate and territory geography, published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs under CC BY 3.0 IGO.

Citation

A citation in APA, Harvard and BibTeX form, naming the route and the date of the data on screen, is generated in the footer of every page of the record.
